Another wonderful weekend on its way!

Hey everyone! Just a quick update...

I'm sitting here at Malyon College, which is where my uncle goes to school. I had to update a list of contacts for his church's conversational english class. It's a great idea -- there are a number of international people in the area and so his church has come up with this class that meets every Wednesday and teaches (for free!) conversational english. I think it's fantastic. A great way to reach out to the community!

Well, I went out last night, for mini-putting and coffee, which was a great time. I have made a few friends here who are super cool, and I'm really looking forward to spending my summer with them! It's funny, a lot of the people I meet down here are so similar to people at home, just different faces & different accents!

There's one guy, specifically, who is SO familiar to me, that if I met him in Canada I would be SURE I know him from somewhere. He's never been out of Australia though, and this is my first time here, so I have no idea who it is that is soooo close to him, but it's a really odd feeling!

So my uncle finished his semester today (Woohoo!) and so we're going to celebrate tonight, if he lets us cook dinner. Haha. Tomorrow we're hoping to make it to the Sunshine Coast, which is about the same distance away from Brisbane as the Gold Coast, but in the opposite direction.

On Sunday my aunt and I are planning to go on a river cruise, while my uncle's at a meeting, and I think it sounds like a wonderful time! Here's hoping it doesn't rain this weekend! : )

In case you can't tell, I am loving it down here, and I'm feeling right at home already. The people here are so welcoming, especially the few I was out with last night. It's so great to be somewhere with people your age, and feeling like you're fitting in completely.

Anyway, I should run, but I'll keep you updated. Keep up with the comments! I should hopefully have some more pictures up from this weekend, and maybe some pics of my new "mates", too!

Love,

Bec*
